The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources 7 successfully turned over the 20 units of FRP boats to the 1st District of Negros Oriental (Jimalalud; Guihulngan; Vallehermoso, Bindoy, La Libertad and Manjuyod) on Tuesday, June 20.

BFAR-7 Regional Director Allan Poquita, together with Pierre Easter Velasco, the FRP Boat Livelihood Development Program National Focal, Dr. Florencia Mepaña, Provincial Fishery Officer of Negros Oriental, Hon. Emmanuel Iway, Municipal Mayor of La Libertad, and Nathan Absin, a representative from the Office of Congresswoman Limkaichong led the distribution of the 20 FRP boats to the fisherfolk of the 1st District of Negros Oriental in a turn-over ceremony held on Tuesday, June 20 at La Libertad, Negros Oriental.

The FRP Boats were gratefully received by the fisherfolk beneficiaries.

In his message, RD Poquita emphasized the importance and contribution that these boats could bring towards the increase of fish production. “These boats are not only a means of increasing productivity in the region, but also a means of improving their livelihood”, he added.

The “Bangka Ko, Gawa ko” scheme under the F/B Pagbabago Livelihood Development Program was funded by former Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan through the office of Congresswoman Jocelyn Sy Limkaichong.
